Basic question - there is about a one second shutter lag on my 5 year old 10D. Also, when it takes more than three pictures in a burst it needs about 30 seconds recovery time. And that's just for three pics!

However, when I shoot with my old 512 compact flash card (instead of my regular 2GB cards) the problems non-existent - it shoots at about regular speed and doesn't need extra recovery time after a burst of three.

Is this a compatibility issues that everyone but me knows about? Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks,
Mike

I shot with a 2GB CF card with no issues. What brand CF card are they and where were they bought? Also are you shooting JPEG or Raw when using the 2GB card.

Reformat the card in camera, and retest, if you have not been in the habit of doing so. It could be that the card is fragmented, and so the images must be written in multiple blocks.

I was actually thinking that if they are some of the counterfit 2GB Sandisk cards flying around that could be the biggest issue beyond not being formatted.
