that i can name more than 3-4 famous photographers and i can think of loadsss of painters etc :(

Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Alfred Eisenstadt, Dorothea Lange, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Diane Arbus, W. Eugene Smith, Jerry Uelsmann, Minor White, David Muench, Eliot Porter, Henri Carier-Bresson, and  Joey Lawrence come to mind :-)

| Look at it this way, the first photograph was taken in 1826 (Joseph Nicéphore Niépce for the trivia buffs), people have been painting since the time of the caveman. So there have been a lot more painters than photographers throughout history, so it's not surprising that you know more famous painters than photographers. |

Don't forget Man Ray!
Jay, 'The Genius of Photography' is a new 6 part TV series being screened on BBC 4 (a freeview channel); the second episode was last night at 9.00pm, but I believe it is repeated on Monday evening. Well worth watching. |

looked it up on the BBC site. looks interesting. I don't have BBC4 here, is there any way to watch it online? Here in Holland most TV episodes are put online for people who missed them. |
