Hi there,

does anyone know of a place or company that makes snoots, gridsnoots and gobos and whatever specifically for a Vivitar 285HV? I've looked in all the big places like B&H, Adorama etc but no cigar and I need something a bit more durable than my ceral box ones because they seem to break after about 10 minutes.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers all!

Hi Tez, Why don't you just make them? I recommend you this place: //www.strobist.blogspot.com/. You can look at this link: //strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101-cereal-box-snoots-and.html.

I did make them but the ones I made didn't stand up to much transport in my big bag of tricks and they'd come out being crumpled and torn. It is fun to watch the client try and keep a straight face while i'm putting a cornflakes box over the flash though...

I heard of those Rosco DIY kits, but haven't heard about the reliability or whatever else.

I started collecting boxes sized near the size of my flash. Take a walk down the Cracker aisle or the Pasta aisle. Cut the end tabs off. This way I can simply fold it flat for storage.

I lined the inside side of mine with Foil tape (used for ducts) that can be had at home improvement stores and sprayed the other side black.
