are there any good tutorials on overlays?
01/31/2008 02:00:02 PM · #3
At the bottom of the first page of this thread I wrote some info on how to do overlays. I wrote this when I was very new to overlays and I cringe a little now when I look at it and the examples I posted but its a good start for a newbie to overlays ;)
Read and have a look through all the links that have been posted in the original thread in my first post. There is all sorts of hhelpful info dotted about plus some amazing images to inspire you!

well, here are my first two tries at overlays. Since I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing,
these are just 'noodling around' stuff with steps explained as needed. It's a great deal of fun deciding what images might blend well.

Yay!!

There's no Overlay Gallery. At the risk of sparking an endless and cumbersome discussion - I think in face of our SECOND overlay side challenge, there should be a gallery. I know there's Textures, but that's different.

I've tried overlaying textures and I just make digital mud so I tried overlaying images today. I'll work on more digital mud tomorrow.

I haven't tried this before, but I don't see the thumbnails on the post reply and don't know if this will work. But if it does, I hope my flower images do not offend anyone because I really kind of like them. Anyway, I'm going to hit post and see if it works.

It was a dark & stormy night, last night. I drove home w/the camera in one hand. The main part of this shot is a capture from last night. The other 2 layers are of a scullpture made of concrete. I'm interested in critical comments & first reactions, if you have any. Looking forward very much to this side challenge as I am experimenting more & more with overlays & blending modes.
