So I wasn't sure which forum to put a baby in a bag... so I put it in general!

I was debating between posting this and not posting it, some people may be offended by it... some people may laugh... I'm not sure it is 1 in the morning here so I'm probably not thinking straight and will probably regret it in the morning.

Well here it is... a baby in a bag?!. Is this a common maternity shot because we've never done anything like that at the studio where we work...

LOL Its not a bag. Its a thin guaze material. Baby is perfectly unharmed. Anne Geddes has been doing it for years.

I have done that same images in my baby shoots too. The parents hold the material so they are in full control and the material has more airflow then flywire windows, but is soft and gentle on the baby!

Just hope no one sees it and thinks it is a WalMart bag!

Putting a baby in a bag like this is a good way to get optimal distance using the hammer throw technique.

The baby s[pent 9 months in exactly that position and is probably most happy being in that position after birth. ;\

That hammer throw does look pretty effective but I have to wonder about some sort of air powered pneumatic launcher... could that achieve more distance?

For example this seems as though it would get more distance...

edited to say that I'm going to hell. :)

I saw Hal Connelly (sp?) set a world record in the hammer throw in 1962. It was pretty impressive -- that thing weighs 16 pounds. The funniest part was when the two or three meet officials tried to yank it out of the turf where it landed, and couldn't.

babies love to be bundled that way. It especially soothes colicky babies (or babies that cry alot)

My dr used to teach a close on how to swaddle / bundle babies.

The gauze material with the baby is comforting to the baby, as long as its not to chilly in the room!

Just a quick note.... this shot is perfectly legal and totally safe when executed properly. It's not a "bag", it's a sheer as stated earlier. The baby is being supported by the father (in my case) and held about 3 inches above a very soft cushy mattress (just in case something goes wrong). Babies this age love to be bundled tightly and this position is actually quite comfortable for the child... and yes... I had the heat on so the baby would stay warm. :-)

And he's right!

When my daughter was a newborn, the tighter we swaddled her, the better. Otherwise her little arms would start flapping around, which just upset her. We called her the baby burrito.
