OK - Another attempt at organizing a gtg. This time it will be at the Ohio Renaissance Festival in Harveysburg Ohio. The date will be Saturday September 13th and odds are we will be there pretty much when it opens at 10:30am. They have some discounted tickets available as well as some 4 person package deals. Depending on how many people we can get committed we can probably get a couple of these packages and save everyone a good chunk of change. All the info can be found here. Our kids will be with us too as this is a great place for them to have a blast. Depending on how many people we can get committed we can probably get a couple of these packages and save everyone a good chunk of change.

And as a bonus Melethia will be joining us! She comes into Columbus that Friday and leaves Sunday morning which will hopefully get us enough time to drag her over to our house for a meal and then down to the RenFest on Saturday. So if the Fest isnt enough to get you there maybe meeting Deb will. I know we sure are looking forward to finally meeting her in person.

So post here if you are interested and we can get a list of dpcers working.

If this were closer, I might go. It'd be nice to meet Deb... I see by his blog that she had shalrath & Co. stay with her recently in Wiesbaden. Have a good time everyone.

Renaissance Festivals - When Star Trek convetions just aren't nerdy enough.

;-)

Actually we go the Houston Ren Fest almost every year. There's just something about eating turkey legs and (enter meat of choice here) on a stick.

The Scotch Egg is the best - a hard boiled egg packed in sausage, then deep fried. If you listen really close, you can hear your ateries harden.

Have fun all!

Back in our juggling days Aimee and I had dreams of performing at Ren Fests. Now we just like to go to 'em and eat Ye Olde Turkey Legs. And yes we do have the outfits. Not sure where they are since we have moved though.

Just wear your tutu - that should be close enough...

I did have Dylan and Fiona stay here in Hochheim (just down the road from Wiesbaden) and am willing to host any and all comers that would like to visit 'round these parts.

And hey, Ohio isn't THAT far away, is it?? :-)

I have to admit I've never been to a proper Renaissance Festival. I'm a bit unsure of deep fried eggs... And I don't have a tutu. Will this be a problem??

Can you do a really bad British accent? If so, you'll be fine.

ha! I go there all the time. I have been invited several times by the festival to photograph their actors. :) I love that place. ;)

bummer - I was looking forward to the Columbus zoo. :) But these things are fun too. Got to check with the family and see what we are going to do. My son is supposed to get his cast off on the 8th and then move on to some kind of brace. Barring no other family emergencies, I should be there. Just have to have a discussion with the family to see who else wants to go.

Townley just called to me and said this was up - she recognized Tim's name :)
Hmmmm 6 hours! Hmmm I am seriously bribing T to come onboard for a fabulous get-a-way...No axes, right Tim?
If T sees that in print, it might be the leverage I need ;)

Oooh do it! That would be fun. I'm sure it would be a beautiful early fall drive lol.

I've worked in Ohio's Hamilton and as for where I was, I would suspect that your Hamilton is much better. :)

My wife has been talking about a fall visit home to (Lancaster) Ohio. I'll ping her about that date and let you know.

Ah, but Louis, your Hamilton has a giant freakin' lake nearby. From my very vague recollection of Ohio's Hamilton, it does not. So there's that!

Yeah, true.. but the lake by Hamilton is kind of gross. This is the only picture of Hamilton that I've ever taken. It's that blackish smudge below the clouds. :P

Find me cheap plane tickets and a place to rent a costume and I'm there... :P
Houston Ren Fest is this fall. Only made Scarborough once this year and I'm having withdrawls...
