This is coming a little later than I intended, but I just thought I'd take some time to thank everyone here. 2008 was a great year for me here and I was able to accomplish many things with my photography that I never thought I would be able to. Since joining, I have seen myself improve mainly due to the inspiration derived from so many great photographs and the photographers who took them. The site has pushed me in all aspects of photography (and photoshop) just trying to create images that hold up against everyone here. I was even able to ribbon in a challenge, something I would have not been able to do without the motivation the challenges offer (not to mention the tension and obsession of that update button.) And I was able to take one of my images I submitted for challenge here //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=693261, and enter it in a photo challenge at my company. And to my surprise, I came in 2nd, winning an iPod touch in the process (first place was a shot of an Icelandic landscape with a rainbow, how can you compete against that...) I hope to continue to improve this year, and become more active in the community around here, as it has really made me better. So again, thanks DPC!

Congrats :)

I also entered a photo into work's photography competition with the theme "Animals in their environment" (We're a wildlife charity working in films and photography) and I came in first place, winning a Wildscreen Photographer of the Year trophy and certificate, hehe :)

So thanks to DPC and especially kiwiness who inspired my picture!

So... no iPod? :P

BTW Ben, I just requested validation of your image. :)

Congrats to both of you!

First place was a Rebel XTI, a little outdated, but it still would have been nice to replace my camera...
