I am leaving from Phoenix in the morning and am going to spend a week there. Is there anyone on this sit from the area or going to be in the area? If you are going to be in the area PM me and we should get together.

i wish i could join you there. it's a very beautiful place. june lake is also very nice. i've been there quite a few times. are you there for fun or work? i hope you have a chance to do some site seeing. show us some of your shots when you get a chance. i'd personally love to see what you capture from there. have fun.

Be prepared for the ground to shake -- that's one of the most seismically active regions in the state. Someplace near there is a creek with some hot springs which come up in the middle of the icy current (yes -- you can burn yourself!), and also some volcanic domes made almost entirely of obsidian. You're also right at The Devil's Postpile ...

I am planning on devils Postpile at some point. I am also going to spend some time around the lakes during "golden hour"

We used to vacation at June Lake (right next door) every year, but that was decades ago :-) You're very close to Mono Lake and the ghost town of Bodie; I'd head over there for sure.
