Just a note that the "existing artwork" clause across all current editing rule sets has been modified to further clarify the intent of the rule. The rule change goes into "effect" immediately, but is essentially the same as the previous rule, so there should be no need for any changes to submitted entries.

I think that's pretty straightforward and clear, but someone will find a way to test it.

Yup...I see a contradiction here....(NOTE-I am not looking for an argument...)

Basic Editing Rules

You may: include images that are clearly recognizable as existing artwork when photographing your entry. Images that could be mistaken for real objects in the scene may also be included, but must not be so prominent that voters are basically judging a photo of a photo.

You may not: add graphics, clip art, computer-rendered images or parts of other photographs to your entry or its border during editing.

is that really a contradiction.. One is in reference to when PHOTOGRAPHING your entry.. The other is in reference to EDITING your entry ???

I wish you would have taken this opportunity to clarify the issue of computer generated graphics in the expert editing rules set. As it is right now it still reads: "You may not: add graphics or clip art images to your entry or its border during editing." . This issue was recently discussed at length and it was the prevailing sentiment (as well as the established precedent) that such rule applies to EXISTING graphics or clipart but not to the ones created by the artist during editing. There are several winning (and validated) pictures that were judged in that manner (including my recent Michael Jackson entry) and it would be helpful to spell it out in the rules in order to avoid controversy in the future. Just a suggestion.

I think you should put the rule change into "effect," not "affect." Leave emotions out of this.

Hahaha...because I like to be different. For the record...my natural colour is not just one colour...I was born with silver hair...but that changed to brown with copper red tinge through it and a blonde streak each side of my face...yes...natural! I didn't start dying my hair until I was in college when I was 15!

Anyways...back to the thread topic....!
