Hey guys... On vacation and my future former card reader is apparently dead or something [look for an upcoming challenge I can squeeze in a burning card reader]. Soooo... I figure connect the camera directly to the laptop.... windoze (XP pro SP3) recognises the camera okay BUT I cannot get to the camera.... Tried downloading the zoombrowser s/ware from cannon.com (thinking I am clever at this point) BUT the stupid software looks for a prev version which I don't have.....

Suggestions? For either the connection OR the destruction of my future former card reader :-/

If the camera shows up as another drive then you can drag and drop using Windows explorer.

Yeah... Cameras don't show as drives like a card reader SHOULD....

Yeah... But I could not be bothered chasing down a store in tourist town here right now... Just playing tonight when nothing else happening - I probably have enough CF cards to cover it for the week.

Thx... Not critical... Just really annoying.....

You need to download the driver from the canon site for the camera, then you can access it.

I use EOS Utility (you can download) to grab the shots from the camera.

Choose your OS and DL the USB WIA driver, then your cam will show up as a Drive.
