Some amazing images on there. Some are just completely mindblowingly great.

If there were a clickable link, I'd look. But I just cannot be bothered to type 1x.com into my browser. Sorry. :-(

Just FYI, do not submit a photo to 1x before you submit the same shot to a challenge here at dpc. I don't know if there are any rules against something like that, but many members here are active there as well, and will most probably recognize your shot, and it defeats the purpose of the whole anonymous voting thing.

But hell yes, I fequently visit 1x for inspiration.

Are you implying that it would effect the vote?! DONT YOU KNOW THERE ARE RULES IN PLACE?!

I wouldn't vote down, but there's no telling how some voters think. It makes no difference waiting a week and then submitting to 1x. Even if you're not voted down, I feel it keeps dpc unbiased.

Nice. I found a shot on there that simply blew my mind:

The Boxers Emotion
And upon leaving a comment asking about the lighting (as we were trying to work it out in another thread here on DPC) the photog was kind enough to fill me in...much more complicated then I had expected:

"Thanks for compliment. It is combination of very soft light coming from 6x8ft softbox located just off the frame to our left and slightly in front of model, 1 beauty dish above on right in front of model, and 3 hard lights with barndoors, one overhead and behind, one on each side and slightly behind, and finally Alien Bee's ringflash. I'm using proportional modeling lights to see how exactly light falls on model. I directing model to move with precision up to 1/2 inch until I see model lit exactly as I want. Its shot in my living room converted to permanent studio, with one of cheapest strobes - Adorama's Flashpoint. "

A great site with beautiful photographs. It, however, seems a lot of the photographs are quiet a bit processed, blurring the line between photography and graphic design. Is there a similar site out there that is dedicated to minimal Photoshop processing?

What is considered to be 1x material is not necessarily something that scores well here at dpc. I've found that they prefer moody shots, that tell a story. Less saturated shots also feature predominantly, while it seems like colourful shots are liked here. A great shot will still do well anywhere, but knowing your crowd helps a bunch.
