Hi all. I'm looking into buying a G10, but with B&H now not offering it, wonder if G11 is a suitable replacement. Now, I've read the reviews, notice that the improvements mainly lie in upper ISO management and a tiltable screen, not exactly my main requirements. On the other hand, G10 seems to be faster on the lag front, which is a definite plus for me. For anyone who used the two cameras in succession - is G11 really worth going for? The perversity of the situation is that I will actually have to pay more for G10 (due to circumstances B&H is the only option for me in North America) so really want to weigh the options. Regards, o.

Do a side by side comparison at dpreview. That way you can see the differences and determine for yourself if those differences are what you need or would be just nice to have.

yes, thank you for this run-of-the-mill brush-off. The side-by-side doesn't list lag times neither can it replace subjetive feel of a real operator and I was interested in those opinions.

If you want help dont be a jerk to those that try to give help. cpanaioti had no idea what features where important to you. She gave the best advice she could under the conditions. Move along people nothing else to see here.

Hi,

I recently faced exactly the same issue: should I get the G10 or the G11? I found this review on the Luminous Landscape very helpful:

//www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/g11.shtml

Of course, after reading the comparison review, I bought an S90!

Thank you, wheeledd, checked the reviews. Strangely the issue of lag times didn't even make it into the study. To the rest of you: looking at the original post there's some indication as to what was important and what wasn't - being unable to evaluate a 0.3 sec difference in the lag times theoretically I have asked for opinions of those who actually used the cameras in question. Cpanaioti wasn't going to any great lengths by telling me to take my query elsewhere and do a side by side - in my book pretty close to a 'piss off'. On reflection, I shouldn't have reacted to that at all but neither does my reply constitutes a vicious attack on the member of this esteemed community. Will consider the issue closed and good day you to you all.
