My wife, actually pregnant, inspired me for this image, and we experimented with a few different things. In the end, I felt this was the best capture of the Bun in the Oven euphemism.

Update: I was really happy to see so many positive comments, and accurate critique for this image. I completely agree with dyridings on the light and I'm getting better at noticing these things because of comments like this.

Very proud to have two new personal bests in a row, thanks to you voters/commentators!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a cute shot and glad I gave you a 7 in voting :-) Your wife is gorgeous, the details are spot on, and knowing (in hindsight of course) that there actually is a bun in the oven just adds to the sweetness of your final placing and the delight on her face. Not a lot to nitpick here apart from the lighting, either another light or at least a reflector on the right to light her face. It is a little distracting but I think in this case the one-sided lighting works in its own way. My own oven's light is set off to one side so it doesn't look that fake to me. Good dof and glad you did go with the highish ISO, it paid off.

I too would actually like to have seen an actual bun of some sort in the oven, just in the lower third. My own significant other thinks a pizza arcing from one corner to the other would have made this image even better. But there's nothing better than getting a new PB with your favourite person in the frame.

So congratulations - for both reasons - and keep up the good work!

Feel free to PM me,

Susan

I'm flattered by you finding this to be so good.

As for her future appearances, don't worry about that, so far, she's the only model I have! (And I don't mind that one bit...although..she might a little hahaha)

Really love this one, she's got a great expression, and the chef's hat is perfect.

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments, and the one or two critiques in there were also very spot on. This is my second personal best in a row, and for me that is just a wonderful accomplishment, so I thank you for your appreciation of my idea and the image that came out of it!!

As for the bun, tanguera, it is in her belly! haha

Very amusing - clever idea. There are a whole list of interesting concepts here and even though the image isn't perfect, the composition is nothing short of brilliant. Just take a look at the imagery and you'll see what I mean. Most excellent. Well done.

Not too huge on the lighting... the right side of the face looks odd, the eye especially. I would have liked to have seen a fill light to soften the shadow, or eliminate completely.
I like the idea, and it took me a minute to see that the oven door is actually open and she's looking into the oven. It's a great idea, but the lighting threw it off for me.
