Last week I visited the forest preserve. There were a lot of frozen puddles and saw some really interesting ice crystals. I thought these might be a good subject for a macro shot. However, it has been a little above freezing this week, so no ice – everything is wet and soggy. This is a shot of some submerged leaves with one stem poking out. I thought the surface tension made the reflection around the stem interesting. I am not sure how well this one is going to do. Sometimes I am excited for voting to begin, and sometimes I am worried. This time I am a little worried.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

I gave you a 7 in voting, probably because I was jealous that I didn't get this shot :-) Very nice and subtle, plenty to look at apart from the ripples. Love how the two leaves converge right there. And the bit of bark poking out of the water adds to the shot just enough, without being distracting. The tones are great, nice and muted but still colourful enough to add interest.

And for all your worrying, you finished with a 6.5 in the top 10 - so I'd say keep on doing what you're doing, it seems to work!

Feel free to PM me

Susan

Really interesting abstract. The leaves I get, but then I find myself studying the image to figure out the whirlpool effect. Well done.

Really gorgeous shot. Feels like a watery grave! The reddish swirly circle is incredibly interesting, really draws you in to the image.

Now this here, is what we call art. A visual treat to be explored, not just glimpsed and passed by. 10
