Challenge: Close Your Eyes (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM
Date: Mar 24, 2012
Aperture: f/1.8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/800
Date Uploaded: Mar 29, 2012

I decided to hang out where a lot of people were passing by, set the f-stop to 1.8, ISO 200, shooting aperture priority mode and I knew I would have no problem with the shutter speed since there was plenty of light available. When it comes to street photography, I love to use shallow depth of field (usually f/1.2 or f/1.8). I lowered my head, closed my eyes and started shooting in continuos mode for about 5 minutes like crazy hoping that I would hit an interesting target that is in focus. The background is a bit cluttered but I found it to be part of the charm in this challenge.

I'm so glad... and not surprised to see this one with a ribbon. It was definitely one of my ribbon picks.

congrats, Allen! the sharpness is amazing for such a wide-open aperture capture without looking - did you get lucky or you used an automatic focusing on a nearest subject or something like that?

eta: oops, I just read your comments, I see now, you just chose the one in focus from a series. That's the third possibility I did not consider :)

I like the shot but don't understand your title. DOF works fine for me even if your eyes were open.

Awesome! You did amazing with your eyes closed. I'd hang this on the wall with my street portrait collection. I love the mood and the story it tells.

Good street shot. The character of the woman was well captured, and there is a good feeling of place. Nice light and contrast too.

The title is awful! LOL! I'm sure you've already heard not to explain your image in the title... I do love the image. It doesn't even need an explanation. :D 7
