Photographer’s Notes
Okay, not the world’s best fine art photo. But I was there. I enjoyed the moment. And it serves to reinforce my memory of a pleasant time. What greater purpose is there for a photo?
My daughter, son-in-law, and I – plus some friends we alternatively refer to as ‘The Usual Suspects’ and ‘Les Canards Sauvages’ – took our motorcycles on a short ride from Seattle to Granite Falls, Washington (the state). And we visited the eponymous ‘Granite Falls.’ This tree grows out of the living rock across the Stillaguamish River from where I was standing.
I think the average horsepower was 150, the average displacement was 1,200 CCs, and the average bike weight was 475 pounds. HOT – POWERFUL – FAST. According to Béla Fleck – Sex in a Pan.
The great thing about riding in a group is that the shared love of fast, powerful, bikes trumps income, rank, social status. It’s an opportunity to mix it up intellectually across gender, age and political boundaries.
