The landscape around here really isn't too exciting, so I knew that the top 10 streak was over with this one. But what a rush it's been! I can post this here, because no one will probably read it, but I had 13 out of 13 top 10s in a row (yes, I'm counting the DQ, because it was a top 10 before it disappeared. :)
What a terribly exciting run!
I knew I wouldn't be able to find much around here, but I wanted to try anyway. Portraits and landscapes are my weakest areas, and I need to experiment whenever I'm forced to. :)
I went out to hog island, which is a wildlife refuge. This shot was a surprise -- I was actually shooting the other direction when a army helicopter flew over, pretty low, and scared up quite a few herons and egrets. Was able to snap this shot off before they disappeared.
I'm pleased with this shot, and incredibly happy that it made it over 6. I was guessing a 5.7, and I'm excited that it received so many nice comments. Thanks all!

| Wow! Great shot. You live in a beautiful place! This makes me think of Africa with the tall trees and big birds swooping. The tall trees in the foreground (middle) along with those big birds also give this a bit of a Jurassic Park feel. That one bird is almost big enough to be a young pterodactyl. :) I like the way the yellow grass becomes a haze in the trees and eventually almost a dust in the sky. This is a top pick for me. Good luck in the ranking. |

This is actually very nice I love that the detail in the sky was not forced out and it's perfectly subtle for my taste.

| The birds bring this to life for me. Maybe a little more detail recovery in the foreground trees would help it pop. |
