At the start of the 3rd day of voting, the score is 7.2881. That is top 10 territory, but I recognize the high caliber of images in this challenge, so that score may not ribbon.

[May. 24th, 2012 07:21:26 AM]

The fourth day of voting starts with score at 7.3429 at 70 votes. 11 votes in last 24 hours. 8 highly supportive comments.

[May. 26th, 2012 08:04:48 AM]

Day 5 of voting brought a decline of -0.16. I stopped watching scores on this day.
Day 6 started at 7.2473 at 93 votes.

I have hiked to The Loch almost every year since 1973. This year's view of a mirrored lake was the first in 40 years.

[May. 26th, 2012 09:10:22 PM]

The "concealed identity (during voting)" comment (has been removed by commenter) referring to the disadvantage of the reflection is a valid constructive criticism. Especially for 800 pixels. I've photographed this same scene many times and the mirror reflection is an asset compared to a choppy lake. This looks much better at high resolution, large size. This makes sense because what appears to be clutter at postage stamp size becomes interesting detail to explore elements of interest at full size.

Thanks to everyone for the supportive comments and the strong votes. Much appreciated!

I didn't get around to voting on this one but what strikes me with your image is the depth, I really like how the mountain and lake are naturally framed by the darkness, which draws your eye through the frame giving the image a real sense of depth.
An impressive location that you captured well.
Congratulations on the red.

Perfect detail, crispness, high local contrast, tonal range, exposure management. Basically an Ansel Adams photograph. Excellent stuff.

The reflection works against you in this one, at least for me, it makes it too busy. Still a nice landscape.
