 And spritz it for prettier bokeh ;-)

Not an original idea but I'm really happy with this image. Took a ton of shots of this spider and its familial relatives in my garden. This shot just worked the best for me in terms of bokeh and a sort of magical feel. For a spider web . I'm surprised none of the spiders lost patience and went after me for soaking them repeatedly on a sunny day!

Turned myself mostly upside down for this one (the spider hangs upside down in the web and I wanted her other side ... plus the web looked more interesting from that angle). Used diffused flash to make the water sparkle better.

PP - rotated, cropped, white balance, levels, increased saturation and contrast, resized, sharpened, hand-sharpened some of the spider, added border.

Great pic -- congratulations Mary on your first BLUE! It was an interesting coincidence to see this at rollover because I had just found one of these near my shed and was taking pictures yesterday. I had one or two years ago and I knew what type it was, but I forget now. Have to look it up again or find my old pics!

How cool is this - my two 10's got first and second place :) I just loved that the bokeh actually contributed to the beauty and effect of the shot in these two. This does indeed sparkle, Mary, and the angle (both of the shot from underneath and of the spider and web in the frame) is very effective. Congratulations.
