One day old and already belting out the melodies... *grin*

:D

I don't know what kind of bird this is... although I've watched the mother meticulously build the nest on our back porch. One twig, over and over... for days. She knew exactly how and where to put each one so it all balances on top of a small box high up on the porch and does not sway at all.

I'm certain that I could not build as perfect of a nest with a bottle of glue and my dexterous hands! Yet she did it... with only a beak and two claw feet.

Amazing!

How does she know how to do this? Did she climb from the sea as a slug and learn it? Nope... she can't be more than two years old, right?

Did a big explosion that flew things around create a "bird brain" so small... yet so brilliant?

I reckon we'll each learn one day what happened to cause her to know this. I hope we're all happy with our decision in life and it's not too late to change our mind when we find out.

Dang they're ugly at that stage, aren't they? Probably the origin of the phrase "a face only a mother could love".

That looks just like a chickadee bird?? I have a nest in my carport, that had 4 babies, and then one day they all left the nest!!

Now there is another bird using the same nest (didn't know birds recycled, unless it is the same Mum bird), when I looked this afternoon, 3 had hatched, with one more to go. It's fun to watch their progress.

That photo made me smile

I'm sure this bird's mother loves that face and food target. Good detail.

Beautiful in their ugliness. Great image. May however not do so well in a site were pristine, shiny and sexy is all the rage. Might surprise though.
