Western Bluebird, male, Sialia mexicana, delivers insect to hungry chicks in Aspen tree cavity nest.

Not a clue as to why this finished so mediocre. No one left a critical comment.

This challenge will be the very last I ever try to offer a large number of constructive critiques. I think people retaliated because they didn't like my comments. Or, those that didn't receive comments retaliated. So sad!

Great capture in the poisition of the bird to show it's activity and coloring. As another commenter mentioned, it does appear to be a bit overexposed, probably shot around midday. My monitor tends to show "flaws" in the shadows well, and the shadow between the foot and tailfeather is quite pixelated. Depending on monitors, that may be apparent to some. As you well know, a cloudy day would have given you more rich color and perhaps finer detail, but we work with what we have!

As for commenting the whole challenge, I truly commend you for that. I have been enjoying your insights on the photographs of others as I review them (I did not have time to see the challenge before voting closed) so your effort is very much appreciated!

I liked the shot from an interaction perspective. I new it was a bluebird but not which one.
I thought the image was overexposed and the noise in the tail feathers in shade led me to believe this.
good catchlight, a bug in mouth, at the nest; all good social components of a wildlife shot. I felt the light was very harsh and the shadows had to be recovered causing the appearance of editing "noise".
