I'm a bit fan of morning fog, hence this picture. I was at first going to post it in my portfolio, but then I remembered the Travel Guide challenge, and decided to play with the photo some more. I'm sure people will complain about it being too edited, but I like the softness with the misty background; I think it has a dreamy feeling about it. I'm hoping the score won't suffer too much from the abundance of noise and compression artifacts.

Editing: Resized, USM, curves, hue/saturation, sharpening, Neat Image, adjustment layers, a bit of spot editing to remove artifacts, cloned out a small piece of power line, and added the border. I think that's about it.

Thank you for thinking of this image and posting it in the 'mist'poem thread. It's a lovely capture of mist in the trees – Like a ‘backwash’(as said in the poem)to the rest of those lovely autumn colours and shapes in the foreground of the photo.

Beautiful! I love the colors, the textures, the framing. (though I bet you get negative comments on the border, the trees used to frame the photo are excellent)
Good luck on the challenge!

P.S. This has to be top 5. Good luck!

My eyes keep going to the salvaged items by the red edifice and to the white roof and poles. the foreground and trees and mist are wonderful and I wish those distractions were not there. I think the salvaged items minor enought that expunging them might not have been a bad idea. the other probably not. Don't get me wrong, it is a very fine effort and lovely scene with the mist making a fine softness to the background. good luck!

Great colors here and good use of the (Oregon?) fog to tell the story.

You've made the best of what could be a mundane subject and gloomy wetaher.! This is quite atmosphereic although I'm not sure it makes me want to visit - if that's the intention.

This is wonderful. A monumentally well controlled and processed shot. Love the tones particularly, in the grasses, and the progression of light in the mist. Not quite sure it really fits - it isn't the kind of big bright shot i'd expect to see in a guide. Want to give it a ten, but that consideration is just going to cost you a point.

This doesn't really look like a tourist destination, but it's still one of my favorite shots in this challenge. The mist looks great and you still managed to get deep, rich colors even in low light. Great job.

I love the colors in this one. I always love fog photos. The dark frame works well. I can't imagine more than one Coquille. You are in Oregon?
