For real! Basically I was trying to catch some lightning images but my lightning trigger kept acting up and not activating. So I finally gave up and thought I just catch a windblown tree for this side challenge. Got lucky and there was this nice big lightning strike lined up with the tree while I was exposing. Totally fortuitous!

This, by the way, is my front yard. I take pictures of the sun setting behind my three trees an awful lot, because I face into undeveloped BLM land and there is nothing but scrub brush and rolling hills as far as the eye can see..

Lots of different blurs here: tree motion from wind; general slight unfocus; Orton effect applied; tiniest bit of radial blur mixed in to part of the tree; cross processing in Nik CEP. Rather garish but I like it :-)

Fortuitous will be my word of the day!

Am catching up on commenting so my comment on a future SC post will become redundant as I now understand this is your backyard lol. Now, if you had set up 10 steps to the right you'd have filled the right side of the sky with the lightning ;)

What a "striking" image! Sometimes that extra little bit of patience pays off big, and this is a good example.

OH WOW. I really love this. I fell like they could be aliens marching toward us, as they glow with each step. Your palette is just yummy.

A magical tree from a fantasy. Lovely effects working together, and I wouldn't have thought that you had actually captured real lightning - clever you!
