Well, has been an exciting week. Scores went up to over 6.9 with even a slight possibility of a ribbon. Then the scores dropped to about 6.4, but last days went up again to 6.65. I'm really happy with this result, both a PB and a first top ten.
Thank you all for all the comments; although a bit confusing sometimes (opposite meanings), they really help me to have more different looks at both taking the picture as post-processing as well.

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

First off - great catch on the milk splashing down on strawberries. The colors of the dessert are perfect - the milk is that refreshing white and creamy and the strawberries the bright, vibrant red that promises sweetness. Now I do have some critiques. I know that yellow conjures up imagery of being bright, airy, and cheerful, but paired with the silverware plate that it rests on I don't think it complements the dish to well. The plate is far too shiny and flashy that it clashes with the bright and airy yellow backdrop. The edges of the silverware plate are reflected on the glass dish that holds the dessert. The result is that it slightly distracts away from the full viewing pleasure for the reflects cuts across those sweet strawberries. If you had used something other than a reflective silver platter that would complement and work with all your elements the presentation of the dessert would reach it's full potential.

Vibrantly tasty. Why a yellow background? Warmth?

Really like the action, but even more I like the choice in background color and how it helps the desert stand out.

I really like the concept of freezing the motion of the cream as it strikes the strawberries and it's one of my favorite ideas in the challenge. However, the choice of a fairly low viewing angle, formal upright presentation and wide crop rob the concept of a lot of its energy. If you tilted it about 45 degrees to the right and cropped it tight to just the strawberries it would have lots of action. The goblet and the platter are not the interesting parts of the image and they should be eliminated almost entirely. Also, it may be my monitor or the background but the white balance looks a little too yellow.

I love the strawberries & cream part of your photo as it is excellent especially the cream going onto the top of the strawberries. However, I'm not sure that your use of yellow was a good compliment to the rest of the photo. To me they sort of compete with one another for the spotlight in a strange way. It was taking my eye off of the real spotlight which was well done. I am not taking off points for the yellow but I wanted you to know how I felt when I viewed it.

One of my favorites because I LOVE action, especially in product photography. I really would have preferred if the subject was not dead center and at such a straight-on angle, since it moves all the action in the image out away from the frame. I find my eyes constantly just want to leave this picture and follow the splashes off the photo.

This is a tough challenge to vote. I'm torn between "what are you trying to do here" and "what do I expect here". Further complicating matters is the question "what would I do here".

What I would expect would be a technically strong piece of eye-candy that would present the dessert in a way that I would want to at least sample it, if not order it. Along these lines I'm looking at technicals: backgrounds, distracting elements, exposure, sharpness. I'm also looking for creativity, imagination, and originality, which can make up for less than perfect technicals.

So, where does this leave me with your image?

Nicely done! More flying liquid would have been a boost, but I'm not complaining.

i love the splash, but i dont care for the reflections or tones in the bowl, and the background thing or whatever the bowl is sitting on is pretty distracting
