I super glued some string in little X's and then just laid them over my mouth, processed to look like stitches.

**I was a little disheartened by some comments as the simile (being a comparison, as everyone should already know) I chose was to the sound of death and not death itself. I truly thought more people would see that, granted they knew what a simile was. If my comparison was "dead as a door nail", then yes, death would have been more apparent, and the stitches wouldn't have been necessary. But I suppose that's just my opinion. I appreciate the constructive criticism either way.

**I still disagree with this DQ. :)

Wonderful image - as you said in your comments, it appears some folks did not seem to understand the concept of simile.

Congrats on a great image. You have an identifiable style which is certainly good if you want to make a name for your self.
I think a lot of people took a long look at this. (For me the hands should have looked more relaxed).

Until I read these comments I was completely unaware that attractive people were immortal. Good news for both you and me! :P In all seriousness, if I had one critique it would be that while your photo clearly conveyed the quiet concept it only did so superficially. I personally would have enjoyed it more had the concept been supported in more aspects of the picture making process. For example, your composition fills the frame with detail and the light is fairly bright. As a picture, independent of the concept, it's loud, not quiet. Had it been a more minimal composition with say a dim light source in the distance it would have quieted down the shot considerably. If that makes sense.

Great idea, fantastic crop, you are very talented! To me the stitches mean silence and add a lot to the impact of this image.

Way to go, Samantha. I don't think the criticism cost you much in terms of scoring - the lesson here is that you look too sexy to be dead. ;-)

Congrats on your Top Ten!

I think if there were less blush and no tension in the fingers that this brilliant idea would have eclipsed the others.

I guess my criticism is that the effect is great, but she doesn't look too dead otherwise. Quite alive in fact, flowing sexy hair and all, with pink nails and anyway, good set up.

The stitches look weeeird, as if they don't share the same reality as the model (aka photoshopped in) Other than that everything is top notch. Tied for my top vote.

Creepy.

But... well done (except, I think, for the "blush" in her "dead" cheek).

Quite disturbing and fabulous. Incredibly edited - would love to know how you got the stitches to look so real in advanced!!

have to say i'm not a fan of the stitches here. the same effect could have been achieved without them, the image would have been more classic and believable. i'm not aware of any reason to stitch a mouth closed.
The faded/muted tones on the rose are complementary to the feel/theme of the image, but i have to say that points will be lost (from me and im sure others) for the stitches.
