Yes, I have SIX versions of my FINAL edit (and thirty edits of the non-final version).

*rolleyes*

I am pathetic.

THIRTY-ONE layers... AFTER I got rid of the ones that didn't count.

I can't guess how many hours I took to do this.

I had all of it ready, in many layers and photos, for my daughter to come home and be Thumbelina for me... But, once she was here, in full life (even minaturized), it didn't work. So many more edits... *sigh*

Thanks bunches to her for modeling for me with only 30 minutes before she had to be changed and leave for a job interview... and to my oldest son for being in the dragonfly position for her to look to... AND... for holding a leash in her hands for props. (I think he loved having his sister "on a leash" like a dog... but, I digress...).

I moved the waterlily (with TOO much effort... should have worked that re-edit into "the plan*... and yet still after all of those edits, I know it's in the wrong place. It should be upper and left a bit (away from the dragonfly). This is where Gyaban would have gone without sleep.

I'm off to bed. *grin*

I hope it does okay. I did have fun with it all... well... at the beginning. *grin again*

Beautifully reminiscent of classic fairytails. Nicely assembled photographic elements.

Very fanciful and a nice take on the fairy tale. Should the tow rope be taut? Good ideas on the different elements - not as well integrated as they could be, I think. Voted earlier.

I like the sense of scale you give so that it makes it easier to think that the girl is as small as Thumbelina. I think the hummingbird makes the scene too busy - the dragonfly and fish are enough to complete the joyful day of waterskiing that Thumbelina is having. I wish the fish looked more real than they appear as that they look to be made of stone - one simple way to trick the eye would have been to take a photo of a fish eye and resize it to fit over the stone eyes of these fish. It would be one simple way to give it a more lifelike appearance. The dragonfly is a nice touch in that not only does it serve to give a sense of scale but it is vital to the action. It just doesn't look properly 'registered' with the image - perhaps it is because the lighting is different and/or that I can see the sharp details of the flower petals through the wings. Hmmm, mayhap if there was some motion blur to the wings and body to give us a sense of speed that the dragonfly must fly to pull Thumbelina it would appear to be more solidly afixed into the scene. I like the nice touch of the water ripples around the leaf and Thumbelina's shoes/feet. However, I do think that it needs to be more of a splashing wave so that it looks more like she is cutting across the surface of the water.
