I'm liking this less and less as the week goes on because of two things: the shadow not going into the cup, and the lighting around the cup.

Having the shadow going into the cup would have been a lot more difficult -- this was quite a learning process -- though I took a couple with the "tea" just starting, but I didn't like those as well. The tea is actually about 4-6 strands of yarn hanging out of the teapot.

The lighting on the teacup was my biggest problem. When you're painting with light, you can guess what you want, but you never know what will happen. First I wanted a cup shadow, but that just didn't look right on either side. Then I tried to light it from the inside. That was really cool, but not so good with the teapot shadow. I would have liked a softer spotlight type of feel, and maybe more spread out, and less speckled background.

Huge thanks to my husband who managed to suspend the teapot without breaking anything. :)

Have to admit I really missed having the tea continuing into the cup. But it's very clever and I love reading about your learning experiences. Keep on keepin' on - your spirit is what we all need :) Congrats on the top 10, Wendy.

Great concept, and nicely executed. Love the brown tone on tone. The only thing that bothers me is that the shadow of the tea appears to go behind the cup. Perhaps beginning to pour out, or extending down into the cup would be better.
