What in the heck do you do with a banana??

Ok -- this was my original idea:

And nobody liked it. My husband asked "why?" and I said "What do you mean, why? There doesn't need to be a why -- it just is."

Son didn't like it.

Friends didn't like it.

Ok -- skip the dumb banana candle idea. I thought it was a dumb idea, as well, but I kinda liked the smoke, and I really liked the candle stick. So if you just ignore the banana....

Oh wait, you can't really ignore the banana...

Ok. Scrap that idea.

But the light coming through the banana skin was pretty cool. How can I hold up a banana skin?

Drape it over a wine glass.

then hold it with a pin

add another banana to the glass?

That had possibilities... Could I backlit the front banana and light the regular banana? All in high key? That might look kind of cool!!

Nope.

Couldn't do it.

Extreme lighting on a banana? Half dark, half light? I didn't want any background... hang it in the air?

Not worth it -- swings around too much. Have to drag out a black background. Really sick of bananas by this point.

Stuck a banana on a table and went for a shadow instead. :)

Thanks for all the great comments!!

oh, that's right -- here's the backlit banana macro:

(can you tell I was really bored that day?)

This was one of my top two picks in the challenge!
the only thing i'd have preferred is a slight oof on the shadow/background - it would really make the image pop!
great job anyway

I like the simplicity of this one and also the grain. Nice composition for a banana. (voted earlier)

I like the grain, the textured background and the nice long shadow. A minor critique would be to say that it is a little on the bright side, but you did get detail in the shadows and the highlights indicating a good exposure.
