Ok -- before you start, I know that it's too yellow. I wanted to give it an old time feel (although Rockwell didn't do it that often, he did every once in awhile :), but it came out yellow. I kept trying to adjust the color, but nothing looked right when I did. I finally figured out a way to fix it after the challenge rolled over! But... when I fixed it so I could show you how much more wonderful it was not yellow -- it still looks off, color-wise. Oh well. It will always be too yellow.

Second, I studied a lot of Rockwell images, and the biggest thing is that it needs to tell a story.

Hurray!!! It tells a story!! I was all excited. I was doing it last minute, of course. No time for a redo. It was yellow, but maybe people would overlook it. But then I took one last look at Rockwell's stuff to get a clue on processing, and I realized that he hardly ever zoomed in this far!!

Argh!!

It's wrong!!

It should have showed the whole bed and whole scene!

But my son had already washed his face, and was sound asleep.

Ok, so it's yellow, and it's not full scene.

At least it has a story!

Looked all over for a thermometer. Looked some more. Took some shots and looked some more. Seriously? No thermometer? That's just wrong!

Ok, so it's yellow, it's not full scened and there's no thermometer...

Ummmm...

But my story wasn't quite clear. A comment prior to entering said the dots looked like they were drawn on, and it wasn't clear that it was homework.

So here's the story:

The paper he has was his homework -- which he obviously failed. He played all night, woke up in the morning and didn't want to have to take the test. So he painted dots all over his face and pretended to be sick. Little did he realize, but mom could see the homework paper (he must have rolled around that morning, and it came untucked from the blankets under which he had hidden it.)

Didn't work -- He had to go to school.

But the turtle got to stay home!

funny and well done - the over exposure works for the rockwell's style pretty well. the test tomorrow that's already graded adds the question of which day the test is... an error or not depending on what you're going for. nice job though
