 It may seem like "just an old brown shoe", and it is true -- It has long since been cast off by its original wearer. But to Daisy... it is her "baby". She licks and gnaws and snuggles with it, but she never chews it up or destroys it. She basks in the comfort of it. Savors it.

We have to protect it for her, ... or Miss Ellie, our Australian Shepherd mix, will take it from her and chew it up to dust particles within minutes. But the old brown shoe... it is sacred so we guard it for her fiercely :)

Congratulations on the top ten, Sandy - definitely deserved it. I love this shot - so tender. For me it would have been a perfect Pet Rock entry but since it's not a rock, I'm very glad you found an excellent fit for it here.

This is so sweet - there's nothing quite like a well loved old shoe as this dog obviously knows. We can well imagine it belongs (belonged?) to his master. Poignant and one of my top four. Voted earlier.
