Ok -- I had this song stuck in my head for about 9 days because of this challenge!! I was finally getting it out of my head, but now that I'm typing this, I'll probably have it for another 9 days. *sigh*

I love this song. I think it's kind of haunting, and I love the personal yet selfish views on both sides. It smacks so true of life.

This is my wonderful daughter. I wasn't quite crazy about doing this shot, since she's going off to college next year -- so it was a little too close to home!

Anyway, I knew it should be a suitcase. But all of the suitcases are so bulky and fat these days. I had some of the old style suitcases, but they were huge. So I found a bag and stuffed it with clothes. Unfortunately, it really does look like she's just going off to work instead of leaving home. But, there really are clothes in there!! She really is leaving home!!

Well...

Ummmm...

It was a strange set of clothes. There was a sports bra, a sweatshirt that says "property of alcatraz state pen", a slip, a pair of exercise shorts, a pair of hiking socks, and a pajama shirt.

Well...

Maybe she would have picked other things. That's what happens when I open the drawer and just shove some clothes inside.

But there really were clothes inside!

The other choice was a backpack, but that makes a lousy silhouette, as well.

Maybe the the guy from the motortrade will buy her everything she needs. :)

Thanks for the wonderful comments!

Terrific, Wendy. Very brave of you to choose this to shoot, given its closeness to home

Well...leaving home, or just pretending to... or real clothes or just pretend clothes... this is an amazing photo, and I LOVE the light and the way it is processed. Fabulous.

P.S..... oooooh.... the daughter going off to college... such a bittersweet emotional roller coaster, isn't it! I hope she won't be going too far...

Very stylish, looks like something out of an ole 50's movie.

Well done!

But where are all her belongings?? Or is she an air stewardess, looks like it!!

Keep coming back to this, I really really love it!!
The hat stand actually really makes this shot, along with the clothing the girl has on, they are a perfect compliment, to a perfectly composed picture.
