I walked 6 miles along the beach to reach this wreck so the title stands good!
The 'Star of Hope' ran aground during a force 10 gale in 1883. It's only visible at low tide.
While walking towards this spot I was aware that the tide would soon be turning and the sun would soon be setting. I knew that I still had to make it back to the car before dark. It was one of those situations where you don't want to turn back but as I kept walking, the wreck didn't seem to be getting any closer. The light was changing and fading all too quickly. As soon as I arrived I took this picture lining up the tall vertical with the bright spot in the sky. Moments later the wind sprang up causing the still water to turn choppy.

Thanks for the comments and votes.
I must admit this did better than I expected.
It's especially nice to have two images on the home page at the same time so thanks again!

I think I've seen this same shipwreck on a different site a couple years ago. Good for you for persevering. The effort we put into challenges! Congrats on this ribbon and for having two on the front page at the same time.

Thanks Lydia (although I quite like the air of mystery).

Can't understand how the title could have disappeared - not when "There's nothing nearby - Not for miles."

Did a similar hike last year to a wreck but the tide had eaten away all traces. At least you were rewarded :-) Congrats on the ribbon.

Six miles total, I presume. A good hike, esp on sand. Beautiful result - shimmers with hope and loneliness. Congratulations on the ribbon.

Gorgeous shot!
I love the "emptiness" here... just a few stray objects, but literally, "nothing nearby... not for miles".
Great black and white shot. Beautiful PP.
Well done! In my top 5
