Anyone who is familiar with the Amelia Bedelia children's books knows that the character takes instructions very literally. In one of the books she is told to dress the chickens, dust the furniture and draw the curtains when the afternoon sun is strongest. So of course she dresses the chickens in cute outfits, spreads make-up powder (dust) on the furniture, and draws a picture of the curtains:-)

My friend, Leslie, agreed to be the model for Amelia Bedelia. We both loved those books from our childhood. Hopefully, others will fondly remember those books too.

The turkey was a ten pounder that I put in a red dress. We had to really wash our hands after handling it because as you see it is still raw. It was a fun 1/2 hour shoot:-) Our dog, Sirius, was watching the whole time just eyeing the turkey:-)

Hahaha this shot really makes me laugh because I had a friend whose most embarrassing moment was when she thought (when she was 12) that dressing the chicken meant putting clothes on it and her family never let her live it down .. thanks for the great chuckle and the memory - ohh and you did a great job photographing it too - a 9 from me for the laugh and for your great work.

Great concept; the skin softening is a little too much, but the idea is great.

OMG, Amelia Bedelia! I'd forgotten all about her. Have no idea if she actually did this in any of the books but it's certainly something she would do. What a hoot :-). Thanks for the memories, and the smile!

This is too funny. Fabulous, hilarious concept, with maybe just a touch too much contrast.
