A fun thing to try from time to time is to shoot in a low light situation is to take aim, keep the camera focused in the direction of your subject, and walk by. (I do this from the hip mostly since if I shoot with the camera to my eye, I tend to run into things.) So this is one such shooting - at the Aquarium of the Pacific, while a gentleman and his child were looking into one of the tanks. The fun thing is seeing what you end up with... most of the experiments can be enjoyed then deleted but every now and then you get a good one!

A couple others taken with this method:

Gorgeous blue blur.. wonderful comment trail except I don't know how anyone could find this creepy! I think it's soothing. Congrats on the mention too.

Came back to see if you put any notes on this--you did! I enjoy motion blur & will give this technique a try as soon as I can. There is a feeling of stillness in the subject but motion in the surrounding light that keeps me looking. Definitely, a keeper. 10.

Aha. This was yours - well, got an 8 from me. My kind of blur did better than you reported early on

Well, this one was an 8 from me, and up in my top 10 of the challenge. Vastly under appreciated. Keep with the experiments!

Did quite well with the collective for a blur shot, you know how risky those can be score-wise. Got a 9 from me, however. Oh, look, an "unconventional eye" comment from Paul! Nicely played!

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Fascinating image - so rich in its presentation of colour. The degree of blur is fantastic - oodles of mystery but with maintenance of the shape of the figure. I feel we are high, looking over his shoulder; I'm intrigued by the red thing by his right foot (assuming I'm right about the orientation) - is it a pot plant? Ahead into the light, the sense of mystery is almost mystical - like a light in the woods - alien abduction dream incarnate!

Critical stuff: Nope

Overall: Very successful image.

Nice image, give me the feeling of standing in one of those glacier caves, producing those nice blue colours.
