[Nov. 26th, 2012 10:31:58 AM]

This is my darling wife and was shot at the last minute. It's hardly an original idea, but something I've always wanted to do.

I started to actually do it as a self-portrait, but my wife asked me how it would work since I hadn't shaved in a few days and had a small beard. I think the disappointed look on my face convinced her to pose for me. Since it's not a true self-portrait, I suppose the title is also something else I'm "doing wrong."

This is taken from one raw file and wasn't entirely too hard to edit and blend.

This started its first day around 6.6 and is now up to 7.2, what a trend!

[Nov. 29th, 2012 10:03:01 PM]

We are approaching the deadline and it's holding steady at a strong 7.1. Very excited!

In response to some of the comments:
Art Roflmao: I thought about this, but the human brain is very eager to recognize "faces" and thought this would work stronger in that regard. (Rotate it in PS and notice it's much harder for the eyes to lock on somewhere.)
CNovack and Bear_Music: I agree, but my original idea was doing a self-portrait, looking at the image just taken and thinking "What went wrong?!?" A reach, maybe, but it made me laugh. Also, as explained above, the title I just decided to "shoehorn" in. I'm obviously doing it wrong.
Kroburg: My dear wife and I would like to explain that this is not a "pustule," but a "beauty mark," and I personally love it.
blindjustice: Along with rotating the whole image, I actually thought of this too, but only after I started getting such good feedback! :) I think it would look cool with her hair hanging down.

Thanks all!

Congratulations on your honorable mention .. as I put in my earlier comments, this is a wonderful, disconcerting photo and I too think her beauty mark is darling.

How eerie is this? You put it together so well that it has the creepy factor down pat ... great job!

Hahaha! I'm not sure this represents anybody "doing it wrong", but it is hysterical.

Great processing, really looks weird. But why not removed that pustule on her forehead/neck, it's a bit distracting. But a very good image overall.

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

Lighting, editing, and composition are all top notch and spot on. One thing does throw me off a bit. It is that it is not so much as You Are Doing it Wrong' as opposed to the audience reaction of "Oh, now that is just wrong!!!" No question it is a surreal almost Dali like composition and it does really well on that creative note. Hmmmm, I guess it is the title that really does not fit the spirit of the picture - had it been something along the lines of 'Gary's Photoshop Skills Gives the Modeling Agencies Fits' it would combine the reaction of "You're doing it wrong" with "Now, that's just wrong!"

That's some really nice blending to make this somewhat "realistic".

I think this is great! I know I won't be the only one to suggest it, but I think you should have gone with it flipped the other way (vertically). Great work, though. Good luck!
