The cloud glowed in the sunset light more than I am showing in this image. I have adjusted the saturation and brightness to match what I saw with my eyes. There are some who will say "oversaturated", but they were not there... standing beside me. There were other photographers in the region who photographed this phenomenon, but they totally blew out highlights and presented a glaring image. Mine matches what I saw.
The cloud is sitting over Boulder, CO, which is 35 miles away. This lenticular cloud reached to approximately 40,000 feet in the sky, which is why it caught the sun horizon event long wavelength light. Those who live at sea level would never have seen this phenomenon.

I am standing at 9500' above sea level.

Perhaps if certain displays have their contrast set to high it might also saturate the colors more than intended. I do believe what you're saying and appreciate the write up / description. As I've yet to travel that high above sea level to see those colors and also have read from others of how blue skies appear more than real in certain places. Congrats on the EPOD placement.

Thanks for your comment, but this image matches what I saw with my eyes. Those who live at sea level will have never seen this kind of atmospheric event. I'm standing at 9500' above sea level. The cloud is 35 miles away and reaches up to 40,000 feet.

An awesome cloud formation, just adds so much drama to the shot, loved it when I saw it earlier this year and still love the shot.
