January wasn't such a stellar photography month for me. Some nice shots, but mostly super cold and gross outdoor conditions kept me inside most of the month. I did use that opportunity to get some studio shots, but nothing stellar that wasn't already in a challenge.

One morning I stopped my vehicle so my son and I could walk a bit. Turned out to be 10 minutes before he got too cold. But luckily this car was perfectly parked close by. The way the sign sits, the lines from the tires, and the reflections come together is all pleasing to me.

Wow, that comment from Paul is by far the best comment I have ever received. It far outweighs any score one could get on an image. Thank you so much Paul.

Wonderfully seen and taken image, Mike - and what a great comment from Paul. Congrats on the second tiny violin in one day. I almost had the same but in the last 24 hours my Best of inched it's way up to 6.0x :)

This is a new comment series for me, so please bear with me while I find my style!

This is one of my 10s - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. The technical quality of the image - its crispness and clarity is perfect - that's just a starter though.

2. This image transports me - it make me feel that I've stepped through a time portal and this is where I have ended up. It has an uncommon level of realism.

3. Part of that is down to the coloration - it's so naturalistic; you have the saturation and contrast profiles absolutely perfect.

4. The angle and POV adds much interest , it's clearly a wide shot but avoids any distortion - again, the perspective, DOF and feel are like a camera lens has not mediated the scene. It's eerie.

5. I really like the eclectic subject matter too - so matter of fact, casual but precise.

Overall, this is masterful - I don't know how you've done it but you hit the sweet spot in my brain perfectly. I love it.

I can't really put into words why I like this pic so much. Maybe it's the wall detail, the reflections in the car or the wooden ladder/stairs. I guess it just all comes together to work. Maybe it's just that I like the car too.

The low perspective and processing is perfect.

Nice perspective to make this very interesting. Color int he sign stands out nicely against a drab, winter day. Nice one.
