 This was taken at Airventure 2012 during the afternoon airshow. The airshow takes place over the main (North-South) runway, and the viewing area is to the west. The viewing distance is pleasantly short. The 400/5.6 provided the perfect focal length. A little bump of the ISO to 200 allowed the shutter speed to stay high, a necessity when tracking these fast jets with a long lens, hand-held.
The timing of the show, after 3PM, puts the sun somewhat behind the viewer, a perfect angle.

Powerfull shot and certainly a worthy entry in to best of. This is one of those shots that wont get much appreciation in general community but any serious aviationist, and person who has ever tried to capture a moment like this..will score a perfect 10. Well done
