This took a lot of tries of me running and diving off the dock to get the dive just straight. I had the camera on a tripod at the end of the dock. The sky was very bright so I had to do single image hdr to control it at all.

Wow an HM and a verineat on top of that!
Thanks for all the votes and comments and special thanks to neat for the bling.

This is soooo fantastic. Even more so with the fact that you are the diver! Congrats on the HM!

To be honest I wanted to swim anyway so I just set up the shot and then started diving off like I normally would have :) I probably did 20 or so dives to get one that was straight enough.

WOW I just read this, even more impressive, you deserve 10 verineats ;----------------)

Congrats on the HM, Oz. The wet areas on the dock (from repeated attempts at this dive, perhaps) really add a lot, IMO.

Cool capture. Looks like a plane taking off from the jetty 'runway'.

Elegant near-symmetry which is proper in this imperfect world. bump

Incredible photo, which could of really been enhanced with some better PP skills, wish this was in black and white, but that's just me, the sky looks a bit blown out, but that's minor, what a great moment, top ten for me!

Despite the tiny flaws I still love this and keep coming back to it, the timing is amazing, this is much more than a photo of a person diving! You receive my verineat, only two given out in this challenge well done, and all the best ;o)

Wow! Had to look twice that that was not a bird flying it! Awesome. Would have been cool in the symmetry challenge too!

This is unique. It created a great first impression for me, as I could not figure out what kind of bird it was, with a tail like that. Haha. Love the light. Disappointed you did not clean up the sky, for it's a beautiful sky.

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

Absolutely great capture. Love the leading lines of the dock that extends our vision out to the horizon. The person caught in flight diving off in to the water captures and holds my attention and imagination. The dock is like that of a runway where 'man' then takes 'flight'. He is suspended midair before he explores the wild blue yonder of not the heavens above but the blue of the water. He takes the plunge/leap that promises refreshment and enjoyment. Very well done action capture and also symbolic storytelling.
