Snowshoe Hare, Lepus americanus. The secret to photographing snowshoe hares is to let them continue to believe they are perfectly camouflaged. He thought he was invisible! I kept whispering, "Where did that hare go? I can't see him." He posed beautifully for 5 minutes thinking he had fooled the old man with a camera. This hare was photographed in Chaos Cascades, northeast of Nymph Lake.

Better size here.

Ummmm.... this was supposed to be my minimal edit image for light on white, but I underexposed the image by 18%. Imagine that! I know better, but I didn't see it in the field. Easy to fix the RAW image, but the JPG was unfixable, by the editing rules.

Adorable. I love how he is almost glaring at the camera. Would have been great in light on white too. So fuzzy (the fur not the pic) ... I really want to pet the bunny. :)

This little guy looks cold! Did he have any idea you were there? The ones I have seen are so skittish. I love it!

Exposure is excellent as is the detail - I know these guys can sit quite still for you, but I still think an image like this with the white on white is very difficult to get. Hope you told him spring is coming . . . 8 Voted earlier.
