 Despite the pink tone in this, there is actually only one color (yellow/ocre) and the B&W used in the production of this.

pp:
open color image in Gimp
convert to greyscale as "luminosity"
copy this layer twice.
invert colours in one of the layers
adjust with curves and levels to get good contrast
colorise (yellow/ocre)
adjust B&W layers with curves and contrast.
Put colored layer between the 2 B&W
Set "mode" to "lighten only"
adjust levels/curves on the 3 layers
merge layers
sharpen
resize
