jonnyB getting his @$$ wipped by his little brother markyB. The trick is: they're on a trampoline.
Post-Processing:
Cloned out peterW who happened to be there in this one shot, which happened to be the best out of 50. Cloned out an electric post. blurred the backgroud. Dodged and burnt the background aswell as both fighters. local contrast enhancement. local color balance to reduce the redshift caused by an incandesent fill-in light used on the right side of the picture.

Good shot! Those fighters will be flying for ever.
11/20/2004 08:42:38 PM
grat shot...great
11/19/2004 12:53:41 AM
What I dont like about his pick is that it does not look like the blow has been delivered yet.

I had a good long look at this pic and the others from your port. I won’t waste my time here as it seems you don't need the comments. Great pic. Just a side note even though I'm new here. If the comments made from this site are generally unhelpful to you...PLEASE don’t click the Critique box so others that need the critique might have a chance for one.

09/27/2004 05:30:34 PM
Congratulations..I love this, its well done, its fun and it meets the challenge!

To Article19: fill lights were used during the actual taking of the shot, not during post process. Using a trampoline is actuqally brilliant. Cloning and blurring is basic usage of Photoshop. We live in the digital era. Get used to the digital darkroom. Or else, grab a 35mm camera and use a classical darkroom. - edit: BEAUTIFUL SHOT! Congrats!

Trampolines, fill lights, cloning and the master stoke, fake depth of field, why don't we just submit drawings!

09/27/2004 07:24:11 AM
Congratulations on the ribbon. This was one of my favorites. I did wonder when I saw it if you used a trampoline. Great idea and shot.
09/27/2004 07:18:30 AM
Congratulations. Great work. All the best.
09/27/2004 06:42:50 AM
very nice picture indeed, any chance of seeing the original? ( I always like to see how people do their editing)
09/27/2004 05:23:17 AM
Wonderful shot and very well deserved ribbon.

Could never have guessed how you did this, but as soon as I read trampoline it was obvious. Very clever and perfect timing :)
09/27/2004 03:55:50 AM
Congratulations, I though yours would beat mine :-).

I like photos that have that one bit of a bright different color. I did guess right away that you'd used a trampoline, maybe because I'm pretty familiar with them since we had one at my elementary school. Good idea, well-done!
09/27/2004 12:12:02 AM
Excellent example of stopped motion. I'm impressed by the perfect exposure, as well as the flawless figures in mid-air. Great job, and congratulations on your yellow.
09/27/2004 12:09:50 AM
Congratulations on your yellow. A remarkable work from a trampoline.

My pick for third place. I can't wait to find out how this was achieved. Awesome work. 10
09/26/2004 01:39:16 PM
excellent shot - I love the way the belts are stopped in mid air
09/26/2004 03:21:17 AM
Perfect stop of motion. Great lighting. Sharp focus throughout. In my opinion the best action sport image.
09/25/2004 10:56:22 PM
Beautifully done. In focus, well lit, wonderful expression. Love that purple belt flying in the air and how you captured that vein on the boy's (purple) lower arm. The tension in the fingers is gorgeous.
09/25/2004 10:59:46 AM
Excellent.
09/24/2004 10:48:14 PM
I just love this.
the composition is perfect, the looks are terrific, great shot!
09/24/2004 03:03:02 PM
The sharp contrast is excellent, it almost makes the boys pop off the comupter screen. The colored belts add interest. I bet they had fun modeling for you. The expression is perfect.
09/24/2004 01:38:24 PM
This is the better of the ninjakungfusamurai shots... very mortal kombat feel to it, love the expressoins and positions you caught... excellente! The background gives it a crouching tiger feel, too ahaha.
09/24/2004 09:37:39 AM
the image looks a little dark to me, but other than that its an excelent photo
09/23/2004 11:18:09 PM
Wonderful shot from background, facial expressions, and colors...
09/23/2004 08:35:34 PM
Very interesting composition ! Would like to have alook at your outtakes ...
09/23/2004 07:11:15 PM
Wow! Great work not only stopping motion but getting everything in focus. Depth of field feels about right to me, too. This is one of my favorites in the challenge. Good luck!
09/22/2004 10:15:17 PM
This is great (must be a trampoline?!). I love the pose and expression of the green belt. Great color and sharpness. I gave it a 10 because it stopped me in my tracks and I can't think of a suggestion to improve it.
09/22/2004 10:10:46 PM
Very NIce ! Where they on a trampoline ?
09/22/2004 06:46:15 PM
all right, where's the trampoline?? seriously, this is very good. the overcast lighting and "homey" background detract from its effectiveness, but it is a great pose.
09/22/2004 04:46:54 PM
Very good, perfect timing. I`m not keen on square photos and would have cropped off top and bottom but thats my personal preference. 9 points.
09/22/2004 10:16:17 AM
it's funny, i like it ... 10
09/21/2004 10:34:50 PM
Oh, man! That is just so graceful! And normally, such a background would be distracting, but it really highlights the white pants. Even their belts are a part of the "dance". Good focus; nice stop. Congratulations and good luck with the challenge.
09/21/2004 08:21:56 PM
All I can say is WOW.
09/21/2004 06:53:54 PM
Great shot! Perfect for this challenge.
09/21/2004 04:45:28 PM
amazing!!!
09/21/2004 02:09:38 PM
This is just great and very well presented. Bumping up.
09/21/2004 11:31:38 AM
Now this is very nice, not a trace of motion blur and its obvious that the subject(s) are moving relatively fast. The lighting is also very good.
I think this is a top 10 placer if not a top 3
Good luck
09/21/2004 04:38:37 AM
WHOA, really cool! That musta hurt! (9)

Good luck...
09/21/2004 12:21:02 AM
Nice stopped motion. The background is a little distracting. If the background could have been blurred out this would be perfect.
09/20/2004 09:17:01 PM
Fabulous shot!
09/20/2004 08:41:21 PM
This picure is great. I really like it. :)
09/20/2004 01:50:59 PM
Wow! You certainly captured the essence of the challenge with this one! It's a perfect 10!
09/20/2004 01:10:50 PM
its a winner IMO - 10
09/20/2004 04:41:37 AM
Excellent work. Phenomenal execution. Looks like a scene from a Hong Kong action movie or a scene from the Matrix. You deserve a big 10 for this. My favourite for Blue.
09/20/2004 02:20:29 AM
Is this real ? very intersting.. hmmmmmm where did you get these magic kids ? lol
very cool image, the background works very well here .. and the positioning of the two boys is perfect.. what else can I ask for ? a 10
09/20/2004 01:45:50 AM
Perfect - timing, balance, composition, colors, post processing and fit for the challenge. It's one of those photographs that just ... is. 10.
09/20/2004 01:13:48 AM
