Photographer’s Notes
I fear I will regret my choice. I had four ‘pretty good’ candidates from shooting in my wife’s garden today. It came down to the shot I entered, and this one:

I prefer the outtake but given the challenge theme, fear it won’t be judged as a macro. The field of view in the photo is about the size of a US Quarter, or a Euro. My TPL team was split on their advice.

Now to what I entered – it is a photo of moss growing on a planter. The little pods sticking up are so small you can barely see them with the naked eye. My D3 is lousy at this so I used a Canon G7 point and shoot, which has terrific macro capabilities. The lens was practically touching the moss. It wasn’t very hard to get pretty much right. The hard part was imagining the image in order to take it.

In a week the angst will be over.

Moss seems like it would be so cool to photograph up close like this (I've tried) but it doesn't feel like it delivers. It's like taking a photo of the top of a forest w/o the misty hills, calm lake, or majestic mountains. Just lacks focus...

I do like the lighting, though... As a whole, this makes me think of Christmas.

Well, I loved it! I was your 10. I have tried many times to get a shot of moss that I like, & I admire this one. Good work. A challenging subject.
