This is outside Louis Sullivan's old Carson Pirie Scott building -- now a Target. Beautiful architecture with amazing details. This was taken late in the day when I had come down to try to capture something for the Architectural Detail Triptych challenge. I had some more conventional Free Study options but this seemed to have the most impact.

Post-challenge:
This is awesome. Thrilled with the bling from Paul and top ten finish. Thanks for the comments and favorites.

Beautiful image, congratulations! Everything - buildings, shadows, blur - creates great leading light to the sun

Awarded for the April 2013 Free Study, for the reasons identified below.

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 10s - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. I really like how the photographic choices here are so visible, it creates a 'constructed' feel that I enjoy.

2. Perfect timing getting the sun there between the person and the building.

3. Perfect exposure time, just the right about of blur to add exactly the right amount of dynamism.

4. Wonderful sharpness of the buildings given a great counterpoint to the blurred elements.

5. Excellent low POV gives us a really interesting view and accentuates the shadows on the ground.

6. Stand out tones - superbly converted.

7. Great detail - the far guy, in the gap, below the sun - that's the crowning glory of the image.

Fabulous stuff. Right up my street. (Just as we see right up this one!)
