 A closeup of a discarded cicada shell (he grew out of it, presumably) on a very dry patch of dirt. A cockroach might have suited the concept better, but happily I have no regular contact with cockroaches.

PP - converted from RAW, Nik Color Efex (tonal contrast, detail extractor), Nik Silver Efex (film noir with tweaks), backed off the opacity on the Silver Efex layer and partially erased the shell, flattened, resized, Nik sharpen.
