[Jun. 4th, 2013 11:30:23 AM]

On Saturday I had taken some candid street shots at the farmer's market with the challenge in mind. Then on Sunday there was a brunch at church that my wife had organized. She had rented a helium tank for some balloons, and I was in charge of returning after the brunch. It seemed a waste to return the tank when it still had helium in it. So I emptied it using balloons also left over from the brunch. Then I thought I would grab one of my girls and head out to the lake for some fun pictures. Sadly, I waited all day but both were far too busy for a photo shoot with their father. At about 9:30pm (1 1/2 hours before rollover for me) I got frustrated that I had all of these nice balloons going to waste, so I grabbed them and went to the location of my DQ'd Umbrella challenge entry. This shot is essentially my Umbrella entry in which I swapped my daughter with an umbrella for me with the balloons. I like the Umbrella shot better. The umbrella spread the light so nicely, but these clear balloons are interesting. I sped home and barely had time to sort through them and do some quick editing before the deadline.

Nothing feels better, as a sixth-place finisher, than reading how someone barely got their quickly edited entry in. You bastard. ;D

Congratulations Mark, you did very well, especially considered the pressure. I love how you managed to still be creative despite of it. Ah and you are so right, the balloons look really awesome!

I like the use of flash on this one, and the clear balloons add much. But the rain coat added a bit of a scary element????

Pretty sure this is Mark, if so where is he going and why does he have a bunch of balloons on a dark night, sorry I'm just being silly!

It might be a little contrite, still you can't fault the lighting on this one, good job!

I love your use of lighting and even more so how you choose to frame this image.
