So, I'm happy with the score -- but I kept seeing a lot of 4s coming in, and I'm curious why the 4s.

So here's my defense against the 4s. :)

I was wondering if people thought it was a captive bird -- nope. Osprey high up in a tree:

(It's the one in the upper right -- don't you love 100-400mm lens on cropped sensors!)

Maybe people didn't think the title fit. But there were other osprey flying around, and it was shrieking territorially at them.

(I actually like this shot a little better, but not at 800 pixels. It was pretty cool at 1200. :)

White sky? Sorry -- I know people hate my white skies. But they happen here. I thought about putting in a fake grey sky, but I left it as it was. So I'll have to live with 4s if they're for white skies.

Should I have zoomed farther out?

Should I have picked a different shot?

(actually, I'm liking that last one quite a bit more, now... but she did look more territorial on the other one. :)

Maybe an osprey at their cat? No... that's usually owls...

Maybe they're seeing the noise that my husband saw. Ah well. I was afraid of that... You're supposed to ignore things like that. I can't see it anyway, so I just ignore it. :)

Thanks for all the comments!

It was fun hanging out below the tree. She just sat there most of the time. I was hoping that she'd fly into the nest with something good -- I was going for some title with "nesting osprey" in it. But she just kept hanging out on the branch above the nest! But then she started screaming at the other ospreys flying around. It was fun trying to time it right and get the shot.

,..............

Whoa... tracker is wrong. It showed about 7 fours!

This was easily in my top two. Another fantastic shot, Wendy.

Heh - two fours is not "a lot", I don't think. :-) I love the stories that go with your photo shoots. And lots of excellent outtakes!
