It always amazes me that ospreys still build even after there are babies in the nest!! I was actually watching another nest when this osprey flew by:

(this was actually the reaction:

he/she really was shrieking territorially :)

)

This was one of those shoot fast save later shots. No time to adjust. White skies are real killers.

Thanks for all the incredible comments -- I'm floored by how well this one has been doing!

Congratulations! I'm not sure why you're surprised it did well. I suspect you can get this into a magazine! And congratulations on three ribbons on four lines on the front page at the same time. Very impressive, but not at all surprising. :-)

3 on the front page - congrats, Wendy. Also back on top in the points & ribbons race! There's no point in saying 'keep it up' because you seem to be unstoppable! Congrats again.

Wonderful BiF. Despite the nesting material in claws, the engaging look makes this stand out. Two schools of thought re the white BG. I prefer (natural) blue but understand that is often not possible and then you also battle to get decent exposure on the bird. Trade off. 8.

Great capture of the Osprey bringing the sticks to the nests, their nests get really huge. I have seen them be 30lbs in weight. Great detail in the upper wing area.

Absolutely perfect timing. I like how the stick appears to fade from view at the tip.
