I really do like the bent flower shots. And this shot is actually a redemption shot for me.

2011 I tried this shot:



I really wanted the flower petal to be falling, but I couldn't get it to work. So when this challenge came -- I knew I needed a dying flower on the table and falling "tears".

I went to a local wildflower meadow about 20 minutes away and picked 5 flowers. 3 pink ones and 2 yellow ones -- making sure that one pink and one yellow were obviously on the decrepit side.

By the time I got home, the pink flowers were wonderfully wilted and hanging over. The "good" one was happily bent over, which was so nice, because in the previously mentioned photograph, I had to tie the blossom to the stem with black thread to make it bend!

Well -- I was ecstatic! Well... sort of... I didn't exactly want to shoot just at that minute... I was kinda hoping to do it hours later...

Oh well -- time to shoot, though in a kind of impatient, kinda cranky mood.

Got through, got two shots that were possibilities. Cleaned them up. This one and the outtake:



Entered it.

Oh crap!! The tears are falling up!! I didn't have enough ambient light, so I had to use flash as well. I forgot to put the flash on second curtain, so I have an obvious petal at the top of the smear instead of the bottom.

I didn't want to reshoot, I didn't want to reshoot -- I really should...

Ummm...

The flower had been sitting in water for the whole time I'd been processing!! It wasn't hang-head anymore! It was standing straight up and looking completely different.

Tried with the yellow flower:



Let's just stick with pink and hope that nobody notices.... :)
