I knew going in that this image had issues fitting the challenge well. My wife should be the subject of the first shot -- rather than my daughter who is in focus. But, I liked the light on my daughter's face. In the second shot from behind my daughter the hands should probably be in the center of focus rather than the braid. Oh, well.

This is what happens when you fail to plan things out very well. I had coerced my daughter into helping me with some pictures for this challenge, again, not having a well defined plan. I thought it might be nice for her to have a braid in the shots, so I asked my wife if she would braid it. I had not really planned to take pictures of the braiding, but the light was nice -- how could I resist? Then, as almost an afterthought, I caught a couple shots from behind with the challenge in mind.

Does it perfectly fit the challenge? No. Am I perfectly happy with the shot anyway? Yep. For me, the challenge topic should plant a seed from which hopefully some good shots emerge. If that happens I am happy -- shooting and voting. I am not much of a pedant.

This was so close...

But let me ask you. Is your subject in focus, or out of focus?

Because if your subject is in focus, then she's looking at the back of her own head.

Really a shame honestly, since it was a great concept.

Nice one. One small quibble - I think that the mom should have been the one in focus in the first photo since the second photo is from the mom's viewpoint.

This is fantastic. The mood, the tone, the feeling, it's all there.
